About the Certificate Program
The Community Health Worker certificate is an employer-sponsored program that includes 6 weeks (160 hours) of virtual instructor-led training plus an 80 clinical practicum. This innovative program includes: paid training time and a guaranteed full-time job with competitive salary and benefits with a reputable national home care company. All participants must have a computer and basic computer skills (for example, the ability to use video-conferencing apps) to attend.
Developing The Skills of Your New Employees
Employees graduating with the Community Health Worker certificate will be able to provide care to individuals in their homes, assist individuals with daily living routines and household management, nutrition and food preparation, maintain helping relationships with individuals and families, identify issues using basic assessment strategies and report findings, participate as a member of a care team, work within all the applicable legislation and employers policies and guidelines, provide care that is sensitive to family values, beliefs and need that follow the basic service plan.
Students completing the program will be credited hours towards a Personal Support Worker program.

- High School diploma or equivalent
- 18 years of age or older
- Ability to obtain a clean police vulnerable sector check and 2 Step TB test
- A car and a valid driver’s license
- Must be eligible to work in Canada
- Proof of English Proficiency may be required
